About theFerrofish Verto MX 64×64 MADI-DANTE Converter
The Ferrofish Verto MX 64×64 is a high-channel-count professional audio converter designed to function as a critical bridge between the MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface) and Dante networking domains. This unit is engineered for large-scale audio installations, broadcast facilities, and live sound productions where seamless integration of different digital audio transport protocols is essential. It provides bidirectional conversion for up to 64 channels of audio in each direction, operating at sample rates up to 96kHz, ensuring full-fidelity signal translation without compromising audio integrity. The device enables systems using MADI—a robust, point-to-point optical or coaxial digital standard common in large mixing consoles and legacy broadcast infrastructure—to connect directly to modern, packet-based Dante audio-over-IP networks, facilitating scalable distribution and routing across an entire facility. The Verto MX is built with operational stability and precision in mind, featuring high-quality analog-grade components in its digital signal path to maintain pristine audio quality during the conversion process. Its functionality extends beyond simple protocol translation, offering flexible channel remapping, gain adjustment, and delay compensation on a per-channel basis, which is crucial for synchronizing signals in complex setups. The device can be powered via redundant DC power inputs, a critical feature for mission-critical applications where uptime is non-negotiable. Control and configuration are managed through an intuitive front-panel display and navigation controls, as well as via a dedicated Ethernet port for remote management using a web browser, allowing for easy integration and monitoring from a central location.By serving as a transparent and reliable gateway, the Ferrofish Verto MX solves significant interoperability challenges in hybrid audio environments. It allows broadcast trucks with MADI-based routing to feed signals into a venue’s Dante network, or enables a theater’s Dante-based playback system to interface with a MADI-stagebox system. Its compact 1U rack-mount design houses both MADI interfaces (typically optical and coaxial) and dual Dante network ports for primary and secondary audio networks, supporting Dante’s redundant streaming protocol. This converter stands as an essential tool for system integrators and audio engineers, future-proofing existing MADI investments while unlocking the vast routing and distribution capabilities of standardized audio-over-IP networks.
